The best way to make sure you won’t have to deal with an empty oil tank is to sign up for automatic delivery. We use a system that draws weather information from Environment Canada and takes into consideration the size of your home, the heating methods used and past usage in calculating when to schedule deliveries. We target filling your tank when the fuel level drops to an average of one-half to three-quarters empty.
This means you shouldn’t have to monitor your oil tank or worry about not being able to get heating oil when you need it most. This is comfort you’ll want to have for the frigid temperatures we have endured in recent weeks and will likely continue for the rest of the month and into March. Will-call customers were 8-times more likely to run-out of oil, based on our numbers from 2018.
You might wonder if you are still eligible for automatic heating oil delivery if you use an alternate heating source in your home, like a heat pump or a fireplace insert. The answer is yes! If you’re already a customer, we would look at past usage in calculating when to fill your tank or if you have just installed a new device, we could ask you a few questions and look at similar customers to estimate what your usage might be. It is important to let us know if you make any changes to your home heating source. If you start using an alternative heating source or stop using one, this will affect your consumption of heating oil and your delivery schedule.
