Splash pads, lakes and beaches – Nova Scotia is Canada’s Ocean Playground, and HRM has its share of ways to keep cool during the hot days of summer. Whether it’s Halifax and Lower Sackville’s splash pads, Dartmouth’s lakes or the beaches of St. Margaret’s Bay, there are plenty of options usually within a 30-minute drive or even a short bus ride. So, get the bathing suits, pack a lunch and have fun.
Discovery Centre – One of the jewels of Downtown Halifax is its state-of-the-art, world-class science museum. Open on the waterfront daily from 10-5, you may want to take advantage of the extended hours of Wednesday evening from 5-8 when admission is free. Summer Concert Series, Public Gardens – Starting on June 16 and running weekly on Sundays throughout the summer from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM, you and the family can enjoy a variety of free musical performances. Point Pleasant and Shubie Parks – Whether it’s the beauty of ocean trails and the vastness of the forest of Point Pleasant or the serenity of Shubie with its canal and locks, these 2 urban parks are a great place for a family-run or stroll.
